About the event
Following on the heels of our Life On Land event in January, our Life Below Water webinar will showcase the remarkable efforts by 3 NGOs in conserving the biodiversity in Malaysia’s rivers and seas, in conjunction with educating and empowering the neighboring local communities.
Join us to hear from:
- Reef Check who will share their experiences in engaging local communities in its conservation efforts, and what needs to be done to transition to sustainable tourism.
- Turtle Conservation Society who will take us on their journey in saving our river terrapins, in partnership with the local communities.
- Kelab Alami will share their story on empowering a local community in Iskandar Puteri, Johor – a community squeezed on all sides by development. Through education of the youths, they have equipped them with the science and knowledge to work with developers to ensure sustainable development, and to ensure their fishermen practise sustainable fishing.
